Go the Distance Volume 1 by Stacy Peardot-Goudy

Go the Distance Volume 1
Stacy Peardot-Goudy

Distance work is a critical element for success in any agility competition. It is important preparation for Gamblers classes, but you also can't run your dog in the upper levels of the Standard and Jumpers classes if you and your dog are running too close together. The handler's ability to work at a distance apart from their dog benefits the agility team in a variety of ways. The handler will be able to send the dog ahead to perform long sequences while he takes the shorter, more direct route. The handler will be able to layer obstacles. The handler will be able to trust the dog to perform complex obstacles accurately and reliably even if he's not right at the dog's side. The keys to successful distance work are experience and confidence. All exercises demonstrated in this DVD begin with handling at a modest distance, gradually adding distance over time as the dog becomes comfortable and reliable. Each exercise can be tailored to any level of dog.

Stacy Peardot is an agility veteran whose dogs have earned many agility titles (MACH2, O-NATCH x 2, ADCH x 7 , MX, MXJ, etc.).
